Homeostasis isnt a new word to you by now, though the homeostasis you knew back then at the college is actually a topic treated at a higher level in physiology. Understanding physiology conceptually requires an indepth knowledge of homeostasis.
Homeostasis is better understood under the following headlines;
- Definition
- Significance
- Mode/mechanism of achieving it
- Understanding;
- the integrating(control) centers and and thier acessory components and
- the role they play
- ECF(extracellular fluid) and
- ICF(intracellular fluid)
The ECF
- The extracellular fluid is the external environment of the the cell and the internal environment of the body in general, exterior to the body is the external environment- the worldly surrounding.
- The ECF doesn't just exist as an external space to the cell but is in fact essential for its survival and successful functioning, it has thus contained within it materials/substances for this purpose. It can thus be said that the cell is none existent without the presence of these substances in the right proportion in the ECF. These substances include;
